The following events listed are for the community to attend throughout the year and are sponsored by the Grimes Parks and Recreation Department. Businesses looking to get involved in these events may email Recreation Coordinator Joel Miller at jmiller@grimesiowa.gov.


Rock Around the Clock Concert Series Sponsored by Aquilo Financial Group

Enjoy live music? Looking for a place to rock out this fall? Look no further than our very own Grimes Rock Around the Clock Concert Series Sponsored by Aquilo Financial Group. Held at Heritage Park, we are hosting five local bands to come rock out with us and we want to welcome you to join in on the fun each Thursday beginning September 14 and ending October 12 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm.

  • September 28 – Vinyl Vagabonds
  • October 5 -  Mike Moody and the Outlaws
  • October 12 – Cherry Pickers

Time

Park opens at 5:30 pm, bands start at 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Fee

We have partnered with our local food pantry, Grimes Storehouse, to help families in need. To gain admission to the concert venue, a donation of a nonperishable food item or even a monetary donation to help these families. Oktoberfest

Grimes is ready to host our first Oktoberfest! We are partnering with local restaurant Destination Grille, to help provide the Oktoberfest specialties, beer and food! Live music and a bags tournament will be held throughout the event, along with a keg squatting contest and the City of Grimes very own sausage toss! Come out to Heritage Park and have some fun. Prost!

Fall Festival

Grimes Parks and Recreation and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office are teaming up once again to host the annual Fall Festival. The festival will be packed with fun activities and booths for kids of all ages, including the Candy Crawl. There will be food trucks, local vendors, games, bouncy houses and much more. Costumes are highly encouraged! Volunteers are needed!

Trunk or Treat

Mark your calendars for our Trunk or Treat event! Head to the South Sports Complex on October 22nd to enjoy early trick or treat fun from 2 pm - 4 pm. Local businesses and city officials will have cars decked out for the holiday and will be handing out candy. If you are interested in being a participating trunk, please email dsloan@grimesiowa.gov.
