Responsibilities
The Grimes Public Works Department takes pride in serving the people of Grimes. The department is responsible for managing the many important infrastructure systems throughout the community. Public Works serves the community through its Streets, Water/Wastewater, Stormwater departments as well as maintenance of City parks.

Streets
The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining City roads and streets.

Water
The City of Grimes has two water treatment plants.

Storm Water Department
Stormwater is the flow of water that results from precipitation and which occurs immediately following rainfall or as a result of snowmelt.

Sanitary Sewer
The City of Grimes currently operates and maintains its own wastewater treatment facility, but has joined the Des Moines Wastewater Reclamation Authority. The City of Grimes plans to deconstruct its wastewater treatment plant after the WRA connection is completed.
