MultiGolf Park Coming to Grimes

The first MultiGolf Park in the Des Moines metro and the first 18-hole course in the USA is coming to Grimes. MultiGolf combines three forms of golf. Individuals can play foot golf, park golf, and disc golf all on the same field. MultiGolf is a new sport that is catered for the whole family to enjoy.

Earlier this year the City of Grimes purchased a 14-acre lot with the intent to develop it into a community disc golf course.

“When we were researching various disc course layouts and amenities, we learned about the new sport MultiGolf,” said Parks and Recreation Director Brian Becker. “We are excited to be the first to bring this sport to the metro.”

The Grimes City Council approved the contract to build the course at the October 25th City Council meeting. It will be called the Glenstone MultiGolf Park and will be located at the corner of NW 54th St and 100th St. This is next to the new Iowa Ortho Surgery Center, which has not yet started construction.

“The idea for MultiGolf Park started in Europe with courses in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Germany,”said 2009 Disc Golf World Champion and DiscGolfPark Sales Manager/Course Designer, Avery Jenkins. “The United States currently has one MultiGolf Park in Houston, TX that was installed and completed in January 2022.”

The Glenstone MultiGolf Park is expected to open in the summer of 2023.
