Some Grimes residents may be eligible for a five-year forgivable loan for home repairs through the Metro Home Improvement Program. This is a collaborative effort from eight metro cities to preserve affordable housing stock. Eligible households have an income of less than 80% of the area median income and are looking to improve single-family homes. This does not apply to mobile homes, homes being purchased on contract, duplexes, or rental units. The house assisted must be the primary residence of the applicant. The Metro Home Improvement Program is administered by the City of West Des Moines and is funded by the participating cities and the Polk County Housing Trust Fund. Learn more and apply here..
