The Grimes City Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm. All regular council meetings are open to the public and held at City Hall 101 NE Harvey ST.
• The annual Grimes Spring cleanup is scheduled for August 27 – 29. There is a different day for each part of town. Please refer to the map to see which day your items will be collected. All items must be placed at the curb by 6:00 am on the day of collection. The collection vehicles will make one pass down each residential street. This cleanup is for residential only. Place material at edge of street in a bag, box, containerized or tied in bundles no more than 4 feet in length or 40 lbs. in weight.
• All large items (swing sets, play equipment, etc.) must be dismantled to the point that it can be handled by one person. Mattresses and TV’s (less than 40 lbs.) are included for curbside pickup.
• For large items that cannot be dismantled you must contact Metro Waste Authority for a special bulk pickup 515-244-0021. These items will not be picked up as part of curbside spring cleanup. They will advise you of cost associated with this pickup.
• Items that will not be collected during curbside cleanup include: appliances, yard waste, brush, tires, vehicles and/or major auto parts, waste oil, paint, flammables, batteries, solvents, household hazardous waste, railroad ties, large piles of building materials, concrete, brick or block. Hazardous waste, such as paint, oil, etc. can be disposed of at the Metro Waste Authority’s Regional Collection Center.
